Since its founding in 2020, the Spectrum Saxophone Quartet has been committed to expanding its repertoire by commissioning new works. The program features five premieres, including a piece by Gerald Preinfalk, the four musicians' former teacher at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (KUG).

About the event
Since its founding in 2020, the Spectrum Saxophone Quartet has been committed to expanding its repertoire by commissioning new works. The program features five premieres, including a piece by Gerald Preinfalk, the four musicians' former teacher at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (KUG): a further development of a piece for solo alto saxophone, exploring the tension between fully notated composition and open form. Andreas Simbeni and Emily Beauchamp explore myths and legends; Anton Schukau's piece unfolds in mysterious, airy sounds reminiscent of mirror reflections. The program also includes Xenakis's masterpiece XAS .
