About us

The Spectrum Saxophone Quartet, consisting of Stephanie Schoiswohl, Florian Bauer, Severin Neubauer and Yingshuo Ma, is a young, dynamic ensemble from Austria that formed in 2020.

The musicians received their artistic training through studies in classical and contemporary saxophone at Austrian music universities. Thus, the four are united above all by a great passion for contemporary music, which is complemented by their collaboration in various genres.

Despite its short existence, the quartet can already look back on several successes and concerts both at home and abroad. The Spectrum Saxophone Quartet was selected in the New Music category for the funding program “The New Austrian Sound of Music (NASOM) 2023/2024” of the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs (BMEIA) in cooperation with mica.

With their debut CD “en dehors”, the quartet clearly focuses on their musical goals, aiming to elicit the wide spectrum of rich colors and sonic innovations from their instruments and to bring the diversity of contemporary Austrian saxophone music to wider attention.
